Phil Collins - Unavailable on LP Tracks

Latest update of post: January 2016

The old post about Lee Sklar’s contributions to the Phil Collins catalog is now split into six separate posts. This is one of them, and you may click on the following links to be redirected to the other five:

Phil Collins ❏ - Studio and live albums
Phil Collins - Compilations With Non-Album Tracks/Alternate Versions/Previously Unreleased Tracks
Phil Collins - Single-only versions/remixes
Phil Collins - DVDs
Phil Collins - Lee w/PC on Various Artists Audio/Video Compilations

The definition for the cuts included in this post, at the time of their first release, was ‘unavailable on LP’, as they were not included in albums nor anthologies. However, some of these songs may have since been re-released as part of compilations or alternate packaging combinations: please note that only one release instance per track has been listed, that is its first pressing. As for Lee being a musician on these tracks, producer Hugh Padgham was so kind as to reply to an enquiry of mine saying Lee probably did play on these titles, but that he cannot remember definitely for sure, as he did not keep records. In order to make the tracks in question stand out, they have been printed in boldface. Still, no asterisk has been placed and the tracks are signaled by a question mark instead.

2 - I Like The Way - unavailable on LP

Notes: 1) Bass on track 2 is probably Mini Moog and, possibly, played either by David Frank or PC. 2) The US single release of “One More Night” is on Atlantic 7-89588 and has “The Man With The Horn” as B-side (see pictures below). 3) The US single release of “Sussudio” on Atlantic 7-89560 has “I Like The Way” as b-side (see pictures below).

3 - You’ve Been In Love (That Little Bit Too Long) - unavailable on LP

Notes: 1) This UK release comes with a lyrics color insert depicting the sound image of the side-a mixdown (‘vibe’ sheet). Judging from a picture in the “...But Seriously” inner sleeve, this is one in a series of diagrams that were probably drawn by PC for each song in the collection. 2) The catalog number on the insert is VSTX 1240. 3) There do exist at least two types of sleeve layout for this release, the one above and an alternate one reading “Includes Limited Edition full color ‘Vibe’ sheet with lyrics” just below the title.
