“Thanks to Allan Pepper”.

“Before I worked up the courage to write them, I learned songs by all the songwriters I admired (I still do). Having performed a few “covers” in every show I’ve ever done, I’m often asked to include some on my records, so I decided to do an album’s worth. // Many great songwriters are missing here, especially women writers, because I find it so much harder to lend something new to renditions of the women’s work that influenced me. Also, because nearly all of these songs were written by men, I have taken the liberty of making minor lyric changes where I felt they were helpful. // Some of these songs you will know and some you won’t. Some were gifts to me from people who were already on to something. Some were written by friends, and some were my own discoveries. // A few of the songs that went over in front of live audiences never worked out in the studio, so they were recorded at live shows. // - S.C., 1994 // Los Angeles”.

“Thanks to: // Steuart Smith, Ron Fierstein, Steve Addabbo, Simon Tassano, Kenny and Amy White, Danny Ferrington, Julie Last, Kay Colvin, Evie Preston, Chapin, Stokes Howell, Jules Shear, David and Jan Crosby, Graham Nash, Joel Peresman, John Giddings, Mark Greenhouse, Nancy Boykiss and Phil Kaye at Sony Studios LA, Stewart Lerman, Don Dworkin at D’addario strings, and Jim Kaufman at Sunrise. As always, to Jeremy, Melissa and Tommy at AGF, and to Stella and Sara Cole.”.
