The compilation has 34 titles, one fourth of which are taken from the Simon & Garfunkel catalog while the rest is solo Garfunkel. “The Singer” includes two brand new cuts, “Long Way Home” and “Lena” which Art recently recorded in Los Angeles at Henson Studios with Maia Sharp and the following band:

Lee Sklar, Russ Kunkel, Dean Parks and Linda Taylor, plus Matt Rollings, Vanessa Freebairn-Smith and Leah Kunkel.

Yumi Matsutoya (Yumi Arai, Yuming, Karuho Kureta) - 松任谷 由実 - ユーミン

Welcome to the Yumi Matsutoya post. Lee has been working with this extremely popular singer-songwriter from Japan (also known as Yumi Arai, Yuming and Karuho Kureta) ever since the Seventies on a great number of her records. Doing a complete and detailed post for the Lee Sklar-connected Yumi Matsutoya albums is not the easiest of tasks: first of all, not all these records are readily available, then there are transliteration issues that make a thorough search for material quite problematic. So, instead of waiting to have all data down to a tee, we have decided to start an in-progress post and publish whatever we have got so far in small increments. Please check back every now and then for additions. Cheers!

Listen To Me: Buddy Holly - Short Doc

Last September, we published a post about the Listen To Me: Buddy Holly CD album, a star-studded tribute to one of the great heroes of rock’n’roll, issued by Verve and executively produced by Peter Asher (and, obviously, with Lee on bass...). Then came the TV special, whose sneak preview is to be found clicking → here. Now, just above, you can check out the short documentary on the making of the lp. If you should look for the original behind-the-scenes EPK of the album itself you may find it here → link. BeardBassman and I say: cheers!
