January 2, 2022 at 9.00 pm ET/PT - Carole King and James Taylor Documentary "Just Call Out My Name" Airs On CNN


"Just Call Out My Name", a documentary about the creative pairing of Carole King and James Taylor, will air on January 2, 2022 at 9.00 pm ET/PT on CNN.

Watch excerps from the 2010 Troubadour Reunion Tour, and go behind the scenes with exclusive interviews. Sidemen Danny Kortchmar, Russ Kunkel and Lee Sklar, who accompanied all of the duo’s shows together from 1970 through 2010, have been interviewed for the project along with King and Taylor. The concert documentary was directed by Frank Marshall and will be available on demand at a later date on HBO Max.

Kate Taylor - New Album “Why Wait!”


On the 50th anniversary of the release of her first record “Sister Kate”, Kate Taylor has a new album out, “Why Wait!”, produced by Kateʼs friend Peter Asher, her first manager and producer in 1970-ʼ71. The list of credits includes several of the original players from “Sister Kate” like Lee, Danny Kortchmar and Russ Kunkel, as well as other favorite players of Kate's:  Albert Lee, Waddy Wachtel, Jeff Alan Ross, Scarlet Rivera, Kateʼs daughters and The Ukeladies.  The album includes original tunes of Kateʼs plus old and new favorites.

Kate Taylor - New Album “Why Wait” Out Soon

 

2021 is the 50th anniversary of the release of Kate Taylorʼs first record “Sister Kate”.

Kateʼs friend Peter Asher, renowned producer and musical artist, was her first manager and producer in 1970-ʼ71. Now, on the anniversary of their first collaboration 51 years ago, they are making a new album together with several of the original players from “Sister Kate” like Danny Kortchmar, Lee Sklar and Russ Kunkel, as well as other favorite players of theirs: Albert Lee, Waddy Wachtel, Jeff Alan Ross, Scarlet Rivera, Kateʼs daughters and The Ukeladies. The album, “Why Wait”, will include original tunes of Kateʼs plus old and new favorites.

The Immediate Family Release New EP “Slippin’ And Slidin’” On October 16

The Immediate Family have issued their new EP and first U.S. release “Slippin’ And Slidin’” on October 16.

The EP features some of the group’s most well-known songs, including “New York Minute” and a live version of “Werewolves of London,” both of which were co-written by members of the group. The title track was released as a single in September, and music video for the song also premiered online via Uncut Magazine. The first single from the EP, “Cruel Twist,” was released in June and premiered via Rolling Stone. “Top of the Rock” rounds out the track list.

The Immediate Family have been performing live and have released new music in Japan, Asia and the U.S. Quarto Valley Records signed the group to a multi-album deal, with more music coming in early 2021. A Denny Tedesco documentary about their iconic careers is also due for release in 2021.

With the recent release of their new single "Cruel Twist" from their upcoming EP on Quarto Valley Records, the Grammy Museum is hosting a live online conversation with The Immediate Family. On Thursday, June 11, The Immediate Family premieres its first-ever U.S. release, the video for the song “Cruel Twist”. Track is a preview of an EP coming in October, with a full album next year. Video was filmed and directed by the members of The Immediate Family (Danny Kortchmar, Waddy Watchel, Leland Sklar, Russ Kunkel and Steve Postell) and edited by Michael Perlmutter. New Denny Tedesco Documentary "Immediate Family" On 1970's Session Players In The Works



Director Denny Tedesco, whose 2008 film “The Wrecking Crew” was a critically praised documentary on the great session musicians of the ‘60s, has begun work on a new film about legendary 1970s studio players called “Immediate Family” and centered around such musical luminaries as Leland Sklar, Danny Kortchmar, Waddy Wachtel and more.

The Immediate Family - New Album Out In 2020



The Immediate Family featuring Danny Kortchmar (guitar, vocals), Waddy Wachtel (guitar, vocals), Leland Sklar (bass), Russ Kunkel (drums) and Steve Postell (guitar, vocals) are currently in production in Los Angeles for their upcoming album of 15 original songs. The as-yet untitled studio project will be the group’s first U.S. release, after their 2018 debut CD "Honey, Don’t Leave L.A." which was released in Japan.

Danny Kortchmar & Friends is a supergroup of legendary band members and session musicians that includes Leland Sklar, Danny Kortchmar, Waddy Wachtel and Steve PostellTheir free concert will take place on Sunday, August 4 at Long’s Park Amphitheater, US-30 & Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17602. Concert time: 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm. Drummer Russell Kunkel currently is on tour with Lyle Lovett, which is why the gig isn’t labeled as an Immediate Family show. Jimmy Paxson will fill in on drums.

July 3 , 2019 - David Crosby, Al Jardine, Jesse Colin Young, Albert Lee and Members of The Immediate Family Among "California Saga 2" Bill - The Theatre at the Ace Hotel, Los Angeles



David Crosby, Al Jardine of the Beach Boys and ex-Youngbloods member Jesse Colin Young will be among the stars of California Saga 2. The charity concert to raise money for homelessness is presented by Rock Cellar Productions and performed by The Tribe.

This collective of over 30 top musicians plays annual fundraising shows with celebrated guests to raise money to bring aid, care and comfort to those experiencing homelessness, especially children and families. Performing classic songs and music of California, the Tribe Band will be joined by Rock‘n‘Roll Hall of Famers David Crosby and Al Jardine, plus Jesse Colin Young of The Youngbloods, Grammy-winning guitar legend Albert Lee and members of The Immediate Family: Danny “Kootch” Kortchmar, Waddy Wachtel, Leland Sklar and Steve Postell.

Other featured musical guests will include drummer Steve Ferrone (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers), guitarists Jason Sinay (The Dirty Knobs), Laurence Juber (Paul McCartney & Wings), David Marks (Beach Boys), Freebo (Bonnie Raitt), Rosemary Butler (Jackson Browne), actor/singer Rob Morrow, the Californian vocal trio The Honeys, who were produced by Brian Wilson, and more.

Hosting the evening as Co-Masters of Ceremonies will be Musical Artist-Entertainer-Homelessness Activist Judith Owen, and Harry Shearer, appearing as his Spinal Tap character Derek Smalls. KLOS, Norm’s Rare Guitars, U.S. Bank and L.A. Weekly are among the sponsors.

100% of ticket sales will benefit the Get Together Foundation. This non-profit organisation delivers aid, care, comfort and music to the most vulnerable residents in society. The group aims to bring food and comfort to those experiencing homelessness, especially children and families. Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission and the Midnight Mission, also based in California, partner the project.

The concert will take place at the Theatre at Ace Hotel in downtown LA on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, 8:00pm, doors at 6:30pm. There will be a silent and live auction with unique memorabilia and experiences.

June 29, 2018 - The Immediate Family in Performance at The Grammy Museum, Los Angeles

An intimate performance by The Immediate Family, followed by a conversation with the group, will be held June 29 at the Clive Davis Theater in the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. The event will be hosted by the Grammy Museumʼs Executive Director Scott Goldman, starting at 7.30 PM (doors: 7.00).

The Immediate Family, consisting of five of the world’s most iconic and recorded session and touring musicians, began as a studio project band on Danny Kortchmar’s new solo CD “Honey Donʼt Leave L.A.”, with guest performances by James Taylor, Jackson Browne, David Crosby and Michael McDonald.

The band decided to take the project on the road after completing the CD album, and its line-up is as follows: Danny Kortchmar (guitar and lead vocals), Waddy Wachtel (guitar and vocals), Steve Postell (guitar and vocals), Leland Sklar (bass) and Russ Kunkel (drums).
